Hi, I’m Dr. Kimball.
As I reflect on running for state legislature, I continue to draw inspiration from the Connecticut State motto:
"Qui Transtulit Sustinet,"
a Latin phrase, when translated, is:
"[He] Who Transplanted [us] Still Sustains [us]”.
I have similarly been transplanted, and sustained as a servant, in every corner of our country, and for all walks of life.
I made my home in Connecticut after building intentional roots across the US — by way of the San Francisco Bay Area, where I was born, then on to Washington, D.C., the American Heartland, northern Virginia, Chicagoland, and eastern Tennessee.
As with other members of the Millennial generation,
I spent my youth chasing higher education, navigating student debt, and forging my self-identity in the fires of
an increasingly turbulent world.
I accepted Latin honors in 2012 with my BS in Biology and Minor in Spanish Language from the American University. Then in 2016, while completing my veterinary medicine degree in Ames, IA, I attended the Iowa Caucus. There, while racing between radiology exams and pathology labs, I cast an historical vote in support of Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee for U.S. President.
To me, voting for a woman to run the highest public office was a formative experience, one that I hope to revisit as many times as possible in my lifetime.
With my husband, Dr. Peter Sojka (also a veterinarian) and Elsa.
I am a cool-headed doctor, a dedicated mentor, a gifted negotiator, an enthusiastic community servant, and a concerned resident with talents I would be honored to offer in service to all my District 87 neighbors.
I am not, nor have I ever been, a stranger to
problem-solving, flexibility, or hard work.
My years spent with my sleeves rolled up in the emergency room have alloyed with a sincere readiness to improve our district, our state, and by transition, our country.
I seek to answer the call of my neighbors for better representation, compassionate decision-making, and a lived experience better resembling the rising generation.
Like other patriotic Nutmeggers (and Americans at large), I have watched in horror as America’s political leaders atrophied the very institutions designed to keep her citizens safe, supported, and empowered.
However, the quietest mistake the current ruling party made is this: they have cured a generation of educated and multi-talented young leaders of the crippling imposter syndrome which steered them away from public office.
The rumbling we hear is not just the passion of troubled citizens; it is the stirring of a thousand Sleeping Giants – each with skills meant for one vocation, but now re-forged into tools for uplifting and defending their community.
I am one of them.

Over the years, I have supported families in my community by treating thousands of their animals in the hour of highest need. My patients have included pets belonging to Justice Antonin Scalia’s family, a former Virginia governor’s dog, animals starring in movies, and even athletes competing in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska.
My dedication and poise even in the face of life-or-death situations earned me the trust of my students, peer recognition, and steady skills
I am eager to apply in service to District 87.
